duct tape dress form

custom knits by wendy bernard

Yesterday was a special day as I received in the mail my pre-ordered copy of “Custom Knits” by Wendy Bernard of Knit and Tonic. It just came out recently here in Canada.

I haven’t gotten very far into it (I’m afraid of getting swept away!), but in Chapter 1: Understanding Your Style, Size, and Fit So You Can Make Sweaters You Love to Wear (what a mouthful!), she includes a tutorial on making your very own custom made duct tape dress form!

A quick little google and I found that this is not a new idea. How did I miss this? Any way, here’s a photo tutorial, and here’s a video intro to this neat idea via YouTube:

  1. Thanks for sharing the tutorials! I love Wendy’s designs, I’ve never tried one, but they are all so cute! I’m hoping my husband will buy the book for me for my birthday next week. I’m getting a massage tomorrow as part of my present! I am so excited!

  2. That dress form idea is awesome. My husband just came in and looked over my shoulder as I was watching it and wondered what on earth I was viewing and why!! Sadly were I to try this my dress form shape would be somewhat different 😦
